2013 Annual Meeting a Success

Ted JohnsonThe 48th Annual Meeting of the North Dakota State Fair took place on Wednesday, November 20th in the Norsk Room of the North Dakota State Fair Center. 113 people were in attendance including 68 voting delegates. The meeting was called to order by President Gary Knell and a welcome was given by Randy Hauck of the Minot Area Chamber of Commerce. State Fair General Manager, Renae Korslien, presented a review of the 2013 Fair, shared the annual report and audit, and introduced all State Fair employees.

The 2013 Honorary Member Award was presented to Ted Johnson.  Ted has been the Ag Education teacher and FFA advisor at Kindred High School for 38 years. He has helped Kindred area students attain numerous grand and reserve champion livestock exhibits at the State Fair as well as success in mechanics and horticulture exhibits.  Ted has also served as the FFA superintendent for the sheep, swine, goat, ag mechanics and tractor driving programs held during the State Fair.

The final order of business was the election of State Fair board members. Kandi Mikkelson of Minot, District 6 and Lee Ann Karsky of Dickinson, District 9 were both re-elected and Craig Zimprich of Wahpeton was elected to District 3 after Dennis Wendel of Lamoure stepped down after serving on the board for 24 years.
