NDSF Parade is “Clowning Around” in 2011

Ken “Dizzy” Gillespie, Minot’s favorite clown, will see this year’s 2011 State Fair parade from a new position; he will be Grand Marshal for the event on Saturday, July 23. Gillespie, who has organized clowning around for the Fair for over 30 years, encourages men, women and children to take part in spreading the joy.  Dizzy, himself an award-winning clown, also reminded Fairgoers not to miss the clown competition at 2 p.m. at the Jukebox Junkie Stage after the parade.  Clowns from a wide area compete with skits and in make-up, costume, balloons and other contests. Dizzy said any clown is welcome to join the parade and contest.

The parade units, including horses, music, vehicles and floats, gather along south Broadway to parade along Burdick Expressway beginning at 9:15 a.m. sharp.  The route will be lined with hundreds of spectators there to enjoy the fun! The parade will arrive on the Fairgrounds at 10am. For more information about the parade, call 838-0104.
