Feeding the Hungry Round Two

Food Drive

Last year, North Dakota State Fairgoers donated 15,668 pounds of food to the Great Plains Food Bank! To put that into perspective, that is enough meals to feed a family of four for 5.25 months. “Aside from generating food for our organization, the State Fair staff did an excellent job providing awareness of the Great Plains Food Bank as a state-wide organization,” states Cari Drees, Community Events & Communications Coordinator at Great Plains Food Bank.  The Great Plains Food Bank then distributed the food throughout local food pantries in North Dakota.

With 2013 being such a success, we decided to bring the Food Drive back for 2014! The North Dakota State Fair will again help feed North Dakota’s hungry families with its second annual Food Drive. The food bank will collecting cans on Monday, July 21 at all the Fair gates. Once again, the food drive will be held in conjunction with Pride of Dakota Day and participating Fairgoers will receive $1.00 off gate admission for that day.

Food Drive 2

The North Dakota State Fair, with the held of KCJB,  is encouraging service groups, families, 4-H and FFA clubs to get together and start collecting cans of food. Make it your group’s spring service project to gather cans for those less fortunate and bring them to the North Dakota State Fair on July 21.  By working together we can collect even more cans and make a greater impact ending hunger in North Dakota.
