Is there a journal hidden under your bed with a story for each day scribbled in it? Has a published book been a dream of yours? If so, we have a contest for you! Each year, the North Dakota state Fair features a Writing Contest sponsored by the Kenmare News. Folks who are residents of North Dakota have an opportunity to enter their writings in the ND State Fair Writing Contest. Work submitted will be displayed in the 4-H Hall of the North Dakota State Fair Center during the 2012 North Dakota State Fair (July 20-28). In addition to the ND State Fair, support for the contest comes from Minot State University and the Northern Plains Writing Project. Each individual may enter up to three works of any form. That includes short stories, poems, plays, essay, letters, diaries and just about anything you can think of!
In addition to the Writing Contest, the North Dakota State Fair also offers a Heritage Contest. The North Dakota Heritage Contest exists so people may write down and submit their own stories about what life was like in North Dakota. Work submitted for the Heritage Contest will also be displayed in 4-H Hall.
All ages are encouraged to enter their work and $150 will be awarded to the best of show in each contest.
