Motor Magic, Labor Day Weekend in Minot

The North Dakota State Fairgrounds will host Motor Magic, Labor Day weekend, September 3-5, 2011 in Minot. The largest motorsports event in the Upper Midwest, Motor Magic provides entertainment for auto enthusiasts of all ages.

Motor enthusiasts can visit the Historic Military Vehicle Display, Vintage & Racing Snowmobile Display and the Dakota Cruisers Classic Car Show. Attendees can even bid on one of the more than 70 Classic Cars at the Motor Magic Classic Car Auction. An Enduro Race will take place at 11am on Monday, September 5 in front of the North Dakota State Fair Grandstand.  Other weekend events include the SCCA Auto Cross and two nights of Nodak Speedway Racing on Sunday and Monday, September 4 & 5 at 5pm. Due to unmet logistics needs, the Magic City International Dragway will not hold any races Labor Day weekend.

Back by popular demand will be the Souris Valley United Way custom pedal car auction. The pedal cars have been customized by area body shops and will be on display at the Classic Car Auction where they will be auctioned off at 4 pm on Saturday, Sept 3. All proceeds from the pedal car auction will be donated directly to the Souris Valley United Way to be included in their 2011 campaign.

The Simulated Impaired Driving Experience or (SIDNE), sponsored by the Dakota Cruisers, will be located in front of the State Fair Center. This battery-powered vehicle has a delay in its reaction time, simulating the effects of impairment from driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

The Black Eyed Peas will be performing a benefit concert with all proceeds being donated to the Minot Area Community Foundation’s Flood Recovery Fund during Motor Magic on Saturday, September 3.  A Party in the Plaza in front of the Grandstand will be open from Noon to 8pm and feature live bands, food booths and a beer gardens. Admission to the North Dakota State Fairgrounds is free with major events priced separately.
