North Dakota State Fair officials are building levies to protect the State Fair Center and the Fair’s Grandstand from the rising waters of the Mouse River. NDSF offices are temporarily relocated to the offices of the Minot Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB), located at 1020 South Broadway. The relocation is necessary as the offices are located in the evacuation zone. The State Fair office can be reached by calling 701-857-7620.
“Minot is not only the home to the North Dakota State Fair, but also home to most of our Fair family,” says Renae Korslien, NDSF manager. “The flood touches us all. The Magic City has always stood by the State Fair and we will stand with the community and get through this together.”
Korslien adds that it is necessary for the Fair to remain open for business because of its role as North Dakota’s state fair. “Obviously, this is an emergency situation that is changing rapidly,” says Korslien. “We have a responsibility to remain open so we can continue to serve the people of North Dakota in the best way possible.”
NDSF officials emphasize that they are not, at the moment, planning to cancel this year’s fair, which is scheduled to be held July 22 through 30. Tickets may still be purchased. Officials recommend that people purchase tickets online at the NDSF website.
